Peace to You

Peace to you. Those who know hunger do not know peace. May you not know hunger. Greed is an insatiable hunger. May you also not know greed.

Peace to you. Those who know cold do not know peace. May you always know a warm hearthfire. Cold is also a lack of companionship. May you never be lonely.

Peace to you. Those who know injustice do not know peace. May you not know injustice. Justice is a delicate balance, though. May you always know balance.

Peace to you. Those who know fear do not know peace. May you be safe from harm. Some fears lack wisdom, though. Save yourself from ignorance.

Peace to you. These three words hold a rich blessing that is rarely given these days. In a world where ideology is sufficient justification to harm strangers, it may seem an empty sentiment.

Peace to you. Those whose words hold no meaning do not know peace; they are a source of turmoil. May you discern truth from deception.

Peace to you.

  1. A poetic reminder of how much a simple greeting can mean. Language can be so meaningful and yet also so meaningless, unless we stop and think what we are saying and what we are meaning. Thank you.

  2. Thanks, Dave. I believe people live such fast paced lives that they do not think about what they are saying and/or what it means.

  3. As always, very profound and inspiring. Peace can be experienced by surrendering also …. Surrendering to suffering . Resistance leads to suffering. Embracing and accepting can lead to inner peace.
