The Difference Between True and False

There appears to be a problem [in the United States] recognizing the difference between True and False. As an American, I understand the dissatisfaction many people have with American government; I am also very dissatisfied. However, I do not want my dissatisfaction to taint my perception of reality. For this reason, I wish to share some simple tips to help people test what is true, and what is false.

I learned some simple wisdom in my youth: “You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 15:16 NKJV). My father’s version of this was, “Actions speak louder than words.” An excellent example, in recent history, is Donald Trump’s statement that he would release his income tax returns if he was elected President. President Trump’s action in this matter speaks louder than his words to many people; many recognize that he simply lied on this point.

I also learned in my youth that a person’s mouth will reveal their heart (Luke 6:45 NKJV). I am amazed that Trump’s remarks about grabbing women by their genitals was so easily ignored by voters simply because they are so dissatisfied with their government. I do understand the desperate need for change in government, as expressed by voters in this election result. I am actually more surprised that politicians apparently do not recognize the lack of consent expressed by voters.

I am as desperate for a change in American government as any other voter, but I do not see how “jumping from the frying pan to the fire” produces the change we need. I am surprised by the curse voters have cast upon the GOP… and the Democrats, though. However, my perception may be clouded by my hope in the wisdom of democracy; the Athenian city state did eventually fail.

Those who did not vote because they did not see any real choice in the 2016 election have no cause to pat themselves on their backs. They wasted their votes and helped a White Supremacist gain the Presidency. Tell me that they didn’t think Trump could possibly win, and I will show you historical ignorance.

You may have guessed that I was a Christian once. Through Christ I learned that this world is in dire need of grace. Through Christians I learned that judgement is a poor substitute for discernment. Their rituals are empty and their spirits are dimmed by fear. It did not appear prudent to be counted among those who take the name of Christ in vain… at a young age. I am more certain of this now, several decades later. America certainly lacks grace now.

It appears that everyone needs to learn how to tell the truth.

Do These Colors Run?

oldgloryShortly after 11 September 2001, many Americans declared, “These colors don’t run.” This was in reference to the colors of the flag of this nation that was now under attack. It was a statement declaring that Americans would not run in fear from terrorists. Does this still hold true?

A decade and a half later, Americans have elected Humpty Dumpty to build a great wall. He coddled their fears and told them that they could hide behind this great wall because he would keep the bad people out. Has America become a nation of cowards ruled by a fear-monger?

There are poor and downtrodden people being oppressed in foreign lands by the same antagonists who have attacked Americans. These people are in desperate need of humanitarian relief. They are in dire need of the same refuge Americans apparently desire, but Americans do not suffer like those asylum seeking refugees. However, Americans are even afraid of the refugees?

A majority of Americans profess to be Christian. However, reports indicate that a majority of those alleged Christians elected Humpty Dumpty, also. Apparently, perfect love does not cast out fear (see John 4:18-20) and these people do not know the compassion of Christ. How can anyone claim to be “Christian” and turn their back on people in such desperate need? Has America become a nation of hypocrites, as well as cowards?

A liar cannot be trusted, and Humpty Dumpty has lied to the American people. He told Americans that he would open his tax returns to public scrutiny if elected, but still refuses to do so. He told Americans that Mexico would pay for his great wall, but Mexico said, “No!” Apparently, Mexicans are not as gullible as Americans. Nevertheless, Humpty Dumpty plans to build his great wall anyway. Guess who is going to pay for it. Has America become a nation of gullible hypocrites and cowards?

Humpty Dumpty took an oath to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.” As the highest official representing this nation, Humpty Dumpty has other nations wondering if this nation will honor the agreements it has made or will make with them. Humpty Dumpty’s lack of personal honor now tarnishes the honor of the United States. It is uncertain if he knows about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the associated covenants that have been ratified by the United States. Has he abandon those treaties, too? Will he even honor the promises this government made to its own people?

Humpty Dumpty has already demonstrated that he either disregards, or is ignorant of his own nation’s practices and standards, particularly those concerning freedom of speech and the press. Although his oath also included preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States, it is uncertain if he knows that the Constitution limits his authority. Some of his actions already constitute an abuse of that authority. However, none of this truly epitomizes his incompetence in fulfilling his duties as President.

Humpty Dumpty ignores factual information established by extensive research and intelligence when formulating solutions for this nation’s problems and making plans for our collective future. How he would justify a nuclear response… he was feeling “bigly?” He acts irresponsibly and without reason. This single character trait clearly establishes that he is not fit for the office of the President of the United States. So why are other American leaders so willing to play patty-cakes with Humpty Dumpty? Is Congress filled with hypocrites and cowards, too?

The corrupt politicians kissing up to Humpty Dumpty need to realize how exposed their characters are to public discernment now. Osama bin Laden laughs at them from his grave. Yes, Congress is filled with hypocrites and cowards who fear losing prestige and power, but their honor is deteriorating rapidly.

I do not believe true Americans are cowards. I do not even believe that all who voted for Humpty Dumpty are cowards. The 2016 election did not provide Americans with a good choice for president; the American constituency were the guaranteed losers of this election, regardless of who won the contest. However, this election did expose the many worms who “came out of the [proverbial] woodwork” to feed off the carcass of a corrupt government. These worms need to understand that the only way they will ever feel truly safe is to dig a deep hole, climb in and pull the earth in over themselves. Of course, some of the hypocrites may discover a scripture that says even that will not save them. Regardless, it is time to recognize the superhero without a cape they thought they were getting is really just a clown without makeup.

True Americans remember the Day of Infamy and its lesson; isolationism does not work. Real Americans also know that the legitimacy and purpose of this government was established in a historic document before the Constitution was written, and that equality is the cornerstone of this nation:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…” (The Declaration of Independence).

Real Americans know that Equality was not perfected when this nation was established, but rather that it is a work-in-progress. Many Americans have sacrificed their lives for this work, and their sacrifices are not forgotten by the true Americans who carry this work forward. Any attempt to “restore” this nation to an earlier state is an attempt to diminish the Equality that has not yet been perfected. The only people against equality are those who fear difference and work to establish their own kind as an elite class… a “master race.” Real Americans recognize the danger of inequality, as do other citizens of this world.

Humpty Dumpty lacks the competence, integrity, or temperament to occupy the Office of the President of the United States. He has quickly revealed himself to be an American disgrace and embarrassment. The security of the United States of America and the stature of this nation in the world community requires that this disgrace be removed from office.

Are there any true leaders left in Congress? Will they do what is right, or what is easy? Do any remain that are capable of rational thought? Do they think my assessment of real Americans is accurate? Who will control the houses of Congress in two years… if this does not blow up in their faces before then? The post-election protests have been unprecedented and they are unlikely to stop… unless Humpty Dumpty falls. This government clearly lacks the consent of many of the governed, and the ones who do consent are afraid. These colors do not run from enemies… foreign or domestic.

I am an American, and I am not running.

Simple Truth: Simple Reality

The art of Science teaches us to dissect everything to reveal its underlying complexity, so simple truths are no longer trusted. Even precepts of the world’s great religions are granted only duplicitous regard on holy days, while otherwise ignored. However, simple truths haunt our dreams because of their strong roots.

Peace is found at the midpoint between extremes where things are balanced. This is the root supporting, “But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:11 KJV). The meaning here is often lost because the modern usage of “meek” confuses humble and gentle people with those who are spineless and spiritless. Regardless of usage, we can be certain that the meek do not subscribe to extreme beliefs, though.

Prosperity is found where where the waters of Life gather. There are three essential material requirements (needs) for human life: food, shelter, and clothing. These things are most abundant in places where water collects. However, modern people complicate their lives with desires that far outweigh their needs. This is often taken to extremes; they spend more than they have, then cry poverty. (This should not be confused with real poverty.)

machupichuWisdom is found in high places where greater vision is gained; mountains, hills and monoliths no longer obstruct the view. These are also quiet places where the voice of Spirit can be heard, rather than the cacophony of human voices marketing their profane opinions. Here the horizon inscribes a much larger circle of Life where lucid perception is permitted.

The Sun rises in the morning to reveal clouds nestled in the valleys below. As the Sun warms the day, the clouds are lifted up. The day is quite hot by the time the Sun hits its zenith, but the clouds gather to provide shade in the afternoon. Soon a gentle rain begins to fall that is welcomed by the parched earth and yourself. The falling rain runs down your body in the same way it runs down the slopes of the high place to the valleys below. Water always seeks the lowest places. It is an element of humility, although it is important to Life on Earth. It is a simple element, but it is also a great blessing. We can learn much about Life from Water.

stream5a.jpgWater teaches that we can be a blessing to others from a place of personal simplicity and humility. In contrast, we can see how complexity and arrogance has cursed this world with conflict, disease and death in the pursuit of wealth and power. This lesson is confirmed by ancient wisdoms that are ignored, forgotten or lost. It is also confirmed by the sense of clarity and peaced gained in this high place, separated from the business below. However, Water also teaches that we must leave the high place to return to our people.

An unprecedented seven billion plus people now inhabit the Earth. How long can we prosper if we cannot live where water gathers? How long can we live burdened with desires that outweigh our needs? Is virtual reality a viable alternative? What paths will we choose from here?
